At Wednesday's meeting, Clear Water honored a few of the organizations that are being funded in the 2023-2024 year. We welcomed representatives from Feed My People, Girls on the Run, Junior Achievement, Power of Perception, and the Eau Claire Area School District. Each organization was asked to speak to how they will use the funds, and the impact was amazing! Some of the uses identified are below:
  • Girls on the Run works with 200-400 girls a year, and 35% of participants are there on a scholarship.
  • Junior Achievement has the Titan Business Challenge, where students are the CEO of their own business.
  • Feed My People supplies food pantries located in each public school, the CVTC and UWEC.
  • Power of Perception is fundraising for another trip to South Africa with students.
  • ECASD Closet will purchase clothes and hygiene items.
  • ECASD Homeless Program uses the funds to support students that are experiencing homelessness.
  • ECASD Foster Program is a new program with the aim to support those students that are out of home. Clear Water is the first organization to make a donation!
This is the first year that Clear Water has teamed up with the Eau Claire Public School Foundation, and we cannot be happier with the partnership. It was wonderful to hear the stories from each grantee, who were presented with a certificate identifying our support. Pictures from the event can be found on our website: clearwaterkiwanis.org. A big thank you goes to Julie Eklund and the service committee, for organizing the event, and Ann Kaiser, who was the MC. We look forward to the next Service Awards luncheon, scheduled for May 15, 2024!

The 77th Annual Doll & Pet Parade is right around the corner, and Clear Water Kiwanis cannot be more excited! This is a fun, free event for children in the Chippewa Valley to participate in. The parade is held in Owen park, and runs from the tennis courts, down the walk path, and to the band shell. At the band shell, each child is announced (along with their pet, toy, or family), and then given a goody bag. After the parade, awards are given for best costume, with the grand prizes being two bikes! If you've never had a chance to join this parade, it is really a fun, easy-going way to spend time outside. And pets are welcome! We've had goats, a guinea pig named milo, ducks, kittens, dogs, and one year, even a turtle.

The parade starts on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00. Registration is at 10:30 at the tennis courts. If you have any questions, contact Clear Water Kiwanis at clearwaterkiwanisinfo@gmail.com. You can also check out our website: 2024 Doll and Pet Parade | Clear Water Kiwanis Club.  Hope to see you there!
